Holter Monitor Rental
The holter monitor is available for rental for $75/week plus a refundable deposit of $100. ALBA medical will read the recording and provide a report for another $40. They can also provide a cardiologist interpretation of the result for an additional fee or you can take it to a cardiologist of your choosing.
Frequently we hear of adopted dogs dying suddenly due to heart disease. Unfortunately, this breed is well known for a disease called dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). In this disease, the heart muscle weakens, and the heart enlarges. Either the heart becomes so weak that the dog has congestive
heart failure or develops arrythmias which can cause sudden death.
Holter monitors have become more available to provide a 24-hour electrocardiogram of the heart. Serious arrythmias can be detected. There are numerous treatments available to treat these arrythmias and prolong your dog’s life. The earlier heart disease is discovered, the more effective are the treatments.
